Teacher Welfare Committee Chair (TWC) - Ron Gillespie Teacher Welfare Committee Studies the collective agreement, gathers input from Local members and proposes amendments – negotiates for such amendments with the Board (through the Local Negotiating Sub-committee (NSC)). Also brings forward issues to the Working Conditions Committee (a joint committee of the Board and the Local). Teacher Board Advisory Committee (TBAC) Liaise with the School Board and provides The duties of this committee shall be to consult with the board on all matters of relevant concern to the local, respond to current policies, proposed policies and policy amendments. Committee Members include: Local President and 2 other members of the Local Executive
Professional Development Chair (PD) - Lesley Margetak Professional Development Committee Co-chairs the LRSD Professional Development Council with Central Office personnel. Works with Council Members to organize and plan Divisional Day and Interschool Collaboration Days. Facilitates links among schools, regional specialist council programs, U of L and convention board. The PD Co-Chairs also administer the ATA/LRSD PD Fund.
Local Communications Officer (LCO)Local Political Engagement Committee Officer (LPEO)- Madison Dovell Local Political Engagement Committee Coordinates and engages in political action (forums, etc.) prior to School Board or Provincial elections as well as organizing actions to address political change related to public education. Local Communications Committee Prepares newsletters and communication with input from local members, promotes Education Week and works as a liaison with various media in conjunction with the Local President.
Social Committee- Susan Robinson Social Committee Organizes the Induction, Retirement and dinners for the Local, responsible for booking local and executive meeting locations and snacks, send out acknowledgement cards when appropriate and to undertake those social activities and social functions approved by our local.
Annual Representatives Assembly Delegates (ARA) ARA - Annual Representative Assembly (meeting held on the Victoria Day Long Weekend) The parliament of the Association, known as the Annual Representative Assembly (ARA), is made up of approximately 500 delegates from locals and the 20 members of the Association's executive body (Provincial Executive Council). ARA establishes policy, approves the Association's budget and sets fees for the various categories of membership. The ARA is held on the long weekend in May and alternates between Calgary and Edmonton.
